August Macke

August Macke’s colorful paintings invite you to take a Sunday stroll or enjoy a leisurely window-shopping trip. We’ll join Macke on a journey to Tunisia and explore his sketchbooks. If you sign up for the hands-on session, we’ll sketch in front of the originals and then turn those simple sketches into paintings in the studio that evoke the works of August Macke. The program is offered with an FM system and a neck loop, in German Sign Language (DGS) or in sign language accompanying spoken language (LBG).

Duration of the tour: 60 min.

Cost: €50 per group plus admission

Duration of the tour with workshop: 90 min.

Delicious!

Shiny apples, bright yellow lemons, and crisp grapes in the museum paintings make your mouth water. Why and how did people paint their food? What does art made from food look like? In the studio, cookbooks are cut up, painted over, and glued together to create a “delicious picture.” The program, presented in simple language, is aimed at people with learning difficulties and anyone who finds it easier to understand a simplified form of German.

Coin-tastic

In today’s age of plastic debit cards and online banking, we are rediscovering the tactile side of money: 2,000-year-old coins, light medieval pennies, the jingle of a coin purse, and the evocative engraving on a taler. A detailed visual description immerses us in the turbulent era of the Thirty Years’ War. We listen to the story of a money chest that was carelessly thrown to the ground and trampled underfoot.

Family ties

Who isn’t familiar with those posed family portraits and photos of ourselves and our loved ones? We’ll compare them to paintings from days gone by. Together, we’ll join 19th-century families for a picnic and watch them gather around their coffee table. People living with dementia and their loved ones will experience something new together—all within a relaxed atmosphere—on the familiar theme of family. Those who wish to can get hands-on in the studio and express themselves and their families through painting.
