The collections of the LWL Museum comprise more than 500,000 items (paintings, drawings, engravings, sculptures, coins, ivories, posters, maps, furniture, gold and silversmith’s works), but only a fraction of them are exhibited. Among these items are masterpieces of medieval art created in Westphalia; outstanding artworks from the Renaissance, the Baroque epoch, and the 19th century; and examples of international modern art and the contemporary avant-garde.
