Workshops

Grades 1–4

Future Travel Lab – Your “Super” Plant for the City of Tomorrow

What will plants look like in the future? The studio becomes a space for experimentation where children develop their own innovative “super” plants. What does your plant look like, and what makes it special? With curiosity and imagination, the students discover which flowers and trees will make the cities of tomorrow more livable. Their visions of the future take center stage and are brought to life in three dimensions—using clay, paper, fabric, and paint, they create their own plant sculptures.

Grades 1–4

Exploring the World of Money – Design Your Own Banknote

There are many different types of money in the world, and the images depicted on them have a wide variety of meanings. Students learn the stories that coins and bills tell across countries and eras: from ancient barter to modern means of payment. Afterward, they design their own currency in the studio. Using secret symbols, glitter, or bright colors, they print their creations: What does this imaginary currency look like?

Grades 1–4

Luck in Your Luggage – 3D Travel Companions

Traveling can be quite exciting. What helps you feel safe along the way? In this workshop, students create their own good-luck charms. They discover which signs, symbols, or small objects accompany people on journeys near and far, and design a personal charm that represents protection, a memento, or a source of confidence.

Grades 5–8

Printing in Sight – Print Lab

In this creative printing workshop, students discover the fascinating world of printing through the works of Otto Piene. They experiment with multicolor printing techniques and create their own urban artworks.

Grades 5–10

Mapping the World – Connecting, Locating, Understanding

What does a place feel like—and why? In this workshop, students embark on an exciting journey of discovery to places near and far and find their place within them. Using creative techniques, they connect observations, thoughts, and feelings to create a very personal map. This individual visual language makes the children’s different perspectives visible and shows how much we can learn from one another.

Grades 5–13

An Expedition with Needle and Thread – Creative Image Transfer

Using needle and thread, participants create their own thread art based on photographic templates and learn a special punch-needle technique. Through this hands-on process, they explore how images can be transformed and how simple materials can be used to create new, expressive visual languages.
