The LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur is much more than a place to gaze, to linger or to share experiences. We have actively committed ourselves to diversity and tolerance and strongly oppose any form of discrimination. We stand up against racism, antisemitism and Islamophobia, against degradation on the basis of disability, against sexism and queerphobia. Our goal is a community full of respect and an open-hearted museum in the spirit of polyphony.

Our collections have grown over the centuries, so when dealing with objects and working through our collections again and again, we consider it our responsibility to critically reflect and question the practices of the museum in past, present and future. For us, “QUESTION & KEEP THINKING” means to explore unknown and repressed perspectives on art, (hi)stories of specific works and the contexts of their creation by asking critical questions and exploring art in new correlations.
