kunst³ Foundation

The kunst³ foundation has been providing financial support to the temporary exhibitions organised by the LWL Museum since its foundation in 2008.

The founding members include public figures from politics, business, and the arts, as well as a number of institutions that promote the museum’s image at the regional and international levels, especially in the time between two Skulptur Projekte exhibitions. The name kunst³ (German for “art cubed”) illustrates the Foundation’s goal of promoting dynamic and highly creative exhibitions at the museum. kunst³ is a foundation under civil law with its own assets.

Extraordinary sculpture by Sean Scully The kunst³ Foundation acquired Coin Stack for the museum

Hubertus Foyer, member of the Board of the kunst³ Foundation, explains the reasons for acquiring the work and the general importance of supporting art museums as follows:

“Sensational artworks were presented in the Sean Scully – Vita Duplex exhibition that was held last year at the LWL Museum on Domplatz. The artist’s works fired us with enthusiasm and it was soon clear that we wanted to perpetuate the presence of such captivating abstract contemporary artworks at the museum, by acquiring one of them. An overwhelming majority of the Foundation members choose Coin Stack, a work that stands out for its history, materiality and spatial impact.”
